Gurellu chutney pudi is the typical Chutney pudi that will be available in all Khanavalis spread across North Karnataka.
It offers a wide range of health benefits like lowering the cholestrol levels,preventing greying of hair etc.

Gurellu/Niger seed Chutney Pudi
Ingredients :-
1. Niger seeds/Gurellu - 1 cup
2. Urad Dal - 1/2 cup
3. Chana Dal - 1 tsp
4. Tamarind - 2 pieces
5. Curry leaves - 10 nos
6. Red Chilly -As per taste preference
7. Oil - 1-2 tsp
8. Jaggery - As per taste preference
9. Salt - As per taste preference

Preparation method.
Step 1: Dry roast the niger seeds/gurellu in a vessel on a low flame. Roast it till the seeds start spluttering.
Step 2: Roast Urad dal and Chana dal till they turn slightly brown.
Step 3: Pour 1-2 tsp oil. Add the thoroughly washed curry leaves, red chilly, tamarind and fry it for 1-2 minutes.

Step 4: Keep aside all the mixture and allow it to cool.
Step 5: Pour the mixture in a mixie jar and add 1tsp jaggery(optional) to it. Grind the mixture a bit coarsely.
Step 6: Add a little salt to suit your taste preference and mix it thoroughly.
