Dental Care - Maintaining Oral Hygiene

Dental care has been given very little to no importance when it comes to maintaining the personal hygiene. It is important to note that, like other hygiene practices, oral hygiene too is equally important. Not adhering to proper oral hygiene would result in one suffering from dental carries, excruciating tooth ache or say in worst cases, undergoing extraction.
It is therefore necessary to follow proper oral care.

Practicing the Ayurvedic regimen helps in preventing Gingivitis, Bad Breath, Sensitivity of tooth, Dental Carries and receding of gums.

Below are few tips in maintaining a healthy oral health.

1. Gargling thoroughly after chewing or consuming anything.

2. Brushing teeth twice a day.

3. Slightly massage gums with oils like neem oil, coconut oil, irimedadi oil etc.

4. Do oil pulling every day using oils like coconut oil, sesame oil, neem oil, mustard oil, irimedadi oil for 3-5mins on empty stomach. Doing so will eliminate the toxins from the mouth.

5. Brush with neem twigs if available.(How to use neem twigs for teeth)

6. Twice or thrice a week massage your gums and teeth gently with salt.

7. Use herbal tooth powders like Dasanakanti churna and Dashana Samskara Churna in lieu of a tooth paste.

8. Scraping tongue with a tongue cleaner.

  1. I have used the dasanakanti churna and has since been able to keep my gum bleeding in check. Thanks for the tips though.
